Help Lawyers Jailed On Politically Motivated Charges (Tajikistan: UA 209/15)


Tajikistani lawyer Buzurgmekhr Yorov, and his co-defendant, lawyer Nuriddin Makhkamov, were sentenced on 6 October to 23 and 21 years in prison respectively. The charges against them are politically motivated and intended as a reprisal for representing members of the banned Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT).
